About Dascon

Dascon Consulting is a technical and quality assurance consultancy service run by Douglas Stewart MICT.

The aim of the service is to provide Technical and QA support to the independent sector of the concrete, aggregate and construction materials testing industries. Douglas started his career in the technical side if the Ready Mixed Concrete industry, moving to construction materials testing in the road construction industry and associated QA Management in the early 90’s. During this time he worked on NAMAS(now Ukas) accreditation for road construction materials testing.

Specialising in Concrete Technology and associated QA and System Management he held various management and senior management positions within Tarmac Northern starting in 2000. Initially covering Cumbria and SW Scotland, eventually covering the additional area of Western Yorkshire incorporating multiple Quarries and Concrete Plants.

From 2005 to 2007 he held the position of Concrete Technical Systems Manager overseeing SAP technical systems for the northern business area. During the same period from 2005 to 2010 he managed Tarmac Northern’s Technical and QA requirements for their Sellafield operations overseeing the construction of several key buildings within the  Sellafield complex.

In 2012 he left Tarmac to form the Technical and QA consultancy now known as Dascon Consulting. Dascon specialises in assisting clients seeking 3rd party accreditation in the concrete side of the industry, it also offers similar services for CE Marking, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 accreditation in concrete and aggregate production sectors.
