Services

BSI Kitemark Accreditation

Dascon assists concrete suppliers through their BSI Kitemark accreditation process. We can guide you through the accreditation process from start to finish with minimum disruption to your day to day business activities. Dascon is a registered consultant with BSI which means we can take you to final audit without the need for preliminary assessments.

Cusum Control

There are several methods by which strength analysis on concrete samples can be carried out to establish conformity with BS8500. Dascon uses a cusum control system to look at trends in Strength, Standard Deviation and 7-28 Day Correlation. Compressive strength results are entered into the cusum and resulting data is used to optimise the plant cement content for conformity with the standard. We provide regular reports and advice on maintaining conformity whilst optimizing commercial margin

Quality Manual

One of the first steps towards kitemark accreditation is the embedding of a good quality system. Dascon will issue you with a quality manual tuned to your business requirements. The manual contains all procedures required for producing concrete to BS8500. Once the procedures within it are embedded into your business you are well on the way towards Kitemark. Download an example contents list here

If you require only a quality manual which is maintained to be compliant with current legislation and quality requirements we can supply this for a small monthly fee please ask by contacting douglas@dascon.co.uk

Technical Records

Every 3 years as part of Kitemark ongoing surveilance you will be require to undergo a full technical records audit conducted by a BSI Technical Expert. Dascon will maintain these records for you and can deal with this aspect on your behalf

Cement Analysis

As part of maintaining Kitemark accreditation it is necessary to review cement prism data from your cement supplier. All suppliers of cement serving the uk market are required to have the product tested independently to insure that it meets the requirements of BS EN 197-1:2011 Cement Composition, specifications and conformity.

9001 Requirement

In addition to the basic Kitemark requirement of compliance with BS 8500-1:2015+A2:2019 and BS EN 206:2013+A1:2016 you will also need to run a management system complying with BS EN ISO 9001:2015

This is the non technical part of Kitemark which requires that suppliers supply concrete conforming to BS EN 206 and BS 8500-2 “under a Quality Management System complying with ISO 9001”

Technical Calculators

Dascon can provide the calculators for use in carrying out contract and mix specific calculations, the calculators can be modified if necessary to your specific requirements

The Basic Relationship

The basic relationship for the materials(aggregate) package in use on the concrete plant is the most important aspect for establishing 3rd party accredited supply. Dascon will assist with this by organising trial mixes and producing polynomial batch data and strength lists from the results. We will also maintain and verify this data for your three yearly technical records audit.

Internal audit

The annual internal audit is by far the most important aspect of maintaining your BSI Kitemark. Once you have a factory production control system embedded in your business, Dascon helps you through your annual internal audit. There are many methods of doing this. The method will be your choice and ensures that you are always ready for your next BSI annual audit.

Mix Design

Where clients customers request mix designs for approval on specific contracts Dascon will produce these for you.

Mix designs are produced by referencing the batchbook and strength list data generated from the original basic relationship trials and taking into account current cusum and material variations. The mix design is always indicative of material performance at time of issue and is subject to change should material performance change been date of issue and actual supply

Complaint Investigation

Part of the requirement for Kitemark is to maintain an internal ncr and complaint register. Complaints require to be fully investigated and reported and this will be scrutinised by BSI at your annual surveillance audit. This will normally involve checking and reporting of any available test data on compressive strength, slump, yield etc.

Batch calculators

Dascon can use the basic relationship data to provide an excel batch calculator which will calculate the batch figures for any mix.

Sampling Conformity

You will be required to monitor sampling conformity in accordance with the sampling highlighted in BS 8500 per family of concrete mixes

Reporting

As part of the service Dascon produces reports ranging from monthly conformity to annual surveillance audit requirement
